I use semicolons for a greater pause and more structured phrase separation than the comma especially when operating a run-on form—I use the run-on because it’s hypnotic, I use repetition for the same reason; and it helps deliver my dense battery of points in short form—and em-dashes for an aside or counter. Both to both help legibility but also to structure the rhythm of the post to better meet natural speaking cadence (parentheteses and colons are avoided because: they don’t have a clear reading rhythm as they’re very much non-literary punctuation).
