Bill Ackman disclosed buying 12.7 million shares of $HTZ, Hertz this week. Did someone follow the elevated stock volume with options? Yes. $HTZ gets very little options volume. However on April 11th someone decided to get directional calls, at the $4.5 and $6 calls for 30 days (the closest expiry). These calls were bought at the ask, all at once. This was MOST of the volume, and these traders held their positions as $HTZ fell. I don't know if anyone knew of the $HTZ Hertz buy, but the unusual activity shows conviction in the trader. Those traders have turned approximately $200k into over $3 million, as per our options profit calculator. Unusual moves like this have seemingly been happening more and more frequently in the market. I will keep calling them out.
